CHAMPIONS OF DEMOCRACY EVENT A RECORD-SETTING SUCCESS
U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL-10) wows capacity house; notable Dems are honored for their outstanding work
Nearly 300 Democratic elected officials, dignitaries, volunteers, and supporters gathered in Lafayette on June 11 for the 48th annual Champions of Democracy event, and the night was a record-setting success in every way. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who added to the excitement in the room!
The Boulder County Democratic Party could not continue its important work of electing strong candidates that share our values without everyone's full-throated support -- which we heard loud and clear that night! The paddle raise exceeded expectations, allowing BCDP to continue and expand its efforts, and we are grateful.
BCDP was glad to recognize the dedicated effort of some remarkable individuals who set an example of how to lean in to our party's values. Please join us in congratulating the night's award deserving honorees:
* Ray Rodriguez, Tom Mayer Award
* Neil Fishman, Jack Major Award
* JD Mangat, Outstanding Young Dem Award
* Steve Fenberg, Chair's Award
* Michael Dougherty & Elaina Shivley, Champion of Democracy Award

GET INVOLVED! We need you! Check out these 2 easy ways to plug in.
1. VOLUNTEER
1a. Volunteer to increase voter registration! The Field Team is planning its second annual Register Renters drive this August and September. People who rent their home vote at a lower rate due to moving more frequently and letting their registration lapse. The Register Renters program encourages them to update their information with simple instructions we leave at their door. There is no knocking and no talking required.
* You can make a big difference by volunteering for a single two-hour shift, and we’ll make it as close to your home as possible. Bring a friend and double your impact! For more information, fill out our volunteer form (https://bcdp.co/Volunteer-Interest) and indicate “Register Voters” among your interests. We’ll be in touch with easy training resources and where to sign up for specific shifts.
1b. Then, in October and November, we’ll kick off our get-out-the-vote campaign to return every last ballot we can from our Democrat and Democrat-leaning neighbors. Be the first to learn about opportunities by filling out our volunteer form (https://bcdp.co/Volunteer-Interest ) and selecting “Getting out the vote” among your interests. We’ll be sure to assign you neighborhoods as close to your home as possible. And shifts are always flexible, two-hour commitments you complete to suit your schedule. There are also opportunities for phone and text bank volunteers.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: MEET STEVE SULLIVAN, PRECINCT ORGANIZER
Precinct Organizers are the backbone of so much that BCDP is able to accomplish! It is an important, fun, hands-on role that can take different forms, depending on a volunteer's interests and skills. We'd like to introduce you to Steve Sullivan, who is a great example of this. In Steve's own words:
"I started as a precinct leader in the 2022 election. Being new to it, I gradually learned how to organize volunteers. Certainly appreciated the help of a few friends and family! Met some nice folks, and had a lot of enjoyable walks.
"I wanted to continue my involvement, and met Bruce Norikane with the Boulder County Dems. He has an amazing depth of experience and has been super helpful. My background is in software development at NCAR and NREL (National Renewable Energy Lab in Golden), and Bruce asked me to create maps for the Boulder County precincts with the goal of showing the
2020 election results as if the election had taken place using the new 2022 precinct boundaries, allowing us to make meaningful estimates of trends. I created a statistical technique allowing us to project past results onto the new redistricted boundaries.
"That success led to Joe Zemek and Elena Martinez-Vivot of the Colorado Democratic Party assigning me to create similar maps for a couple of hotly contested U.S. congressional districts; District 3 covers the western third of the state, and district 8 includes much of Weld County. I'm glad to be able to continue socially beneficial software work for the Democratic Party."
Thank you, Steve, for all you do!
YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Did you know...
... that statewide Democratic Party races depend on maximum Boulder County turnout to be successful?

EVENTO “CAMPEONES DE LA DEMOCRACIA” DEMUESTRA UN ÉXITO IMPRESIONANTE
El Representante de EE. UU.
